This line of ThermoFlex HTV is made from an incredibly durable yet soft polyurethane material. One of the reasons Thermoflex Plus HTV is so popular is that, when correctly applied, it adheres so strongly that it can outlast the life of the garment.
You can use ThermoFlex matte HTV on any of the fabrics listed below:
- Cotton
- Uncoated polyester
- Acrylic/polyester blends
- Cotton/polyester blends
- Wool
- Lycra
- Spandex
- Linen
Before you order, please note this vinyl will not adhere to nylon or nylon blends.
If you plan to use this vinyl on moisture-wicking or shiny materials, it is recommended to first wash and dry the garment without fabric softeners. Additionally, to ensure a smooth application, you should blot the design area with rubbing alcohol prior to pressing.
Another reason this vinyl is so popular is that it can be layered to make intricate designs with depth and complexity. The vinyl adheres to itself just as well as fabric, so you can add multiple layers to any design.

Application Instructions
- Create your design in a graphics program such as Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.
- Select “reverse” or “mirror image” so that it will transfer properly.
- Load the vinyl onto your plotter.
- Unless you have used this exact combination of ThermoFlex and fabric before, it’s strongly recommended to perform a test cut so that you can adjust your settings as needed.
- Carefully cut your design in mirror image.
- Weed all excess film from the carrier before you begin the transfer- Position the design on the garment, and slide a Teflon sheet between the carrier sheet and the heat plate to prevent sticking or edge lifting.
- Set the heat press to 335 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Using firm, even pressure across the design, hold the press for 20 seconds.
Application Tips
- – You can peel all ThermoFlex Plus colors warm or cold. It is often easier to peel while warm, but be sure to allow at least 10 seconds of cooling time before you handle the vinyl.
- – If the vinyl does not adhere evenly, simply reposition the design, and follow the pressing instructions with increased pressure.
- – For best results, wait 24 hours after peeling before washing the garment.
- – All colors of ThermoFlex Plus matte heat transfer vinyl can be washed in warm or hot water and tumble dried on any heat setting. The vinyl will not stick to itself.
- – Do not dry-clean or use chlorine bleach.
